Wow, a lot has been happening here at Birdboy. First we've aquired a building, 210 e collins rd in Fort Wayne. Its just a little office/warehouse, but it seems perfectly suited to brewing some great beer. We've applied for our Federal brewery permit and as of yesterday it has entered the final stages of approval, which seems amazing it's only been a month, and you hear it takes 4 months. The federal tax and trade beurea people have been really friendly and great to deal with. I've ordered all the equipment which includes 2 seven barrel fermentors, 2 brite tanks, and a 7 barrle kettle. The fermentors arrived at UPS where I picked them up, and with the help of a few of the MASH club guys we unloaded into the new building. Everything is coming together, and looks good for a july opening.
Today was a big day for Birdboy Brewing. We now have our first significant piece of brewing equipment: a dairy tank from an Amish farm in Grabill, Indiana. It's a 300 gallon bulk milk tank that will act as our mash tun with the addition of a false bottom. It took a great deal of effort for the Amish family and me to hoist this thing up and out of a window, but we somehow managed it. I thanked them each with an Octoberfest which they greatly appreciated. We're excited see what new brews this new tank will make possible!
